Revisiting pedagogic strategies for supporting students’ learning in Mathematical Microworlds. Devolving teachers’ role to an ‘intelligent’ facilitator

چکیده
This paper presents categories of pedagogic strategies for helping students during mathematical explorations in microworlds, that take into account the constructivist theory of learning. We illustate the strategies using examples from empirical data supported by other research in the field. As precursor to designing intelligent support for exploratory learning environments we discuss ways to operationalise these strategies in order to delegate some of the teacher’s responsibilities to what we call an intelligent computer-based facilitator.

EFL Teachers’ Pedagogic Strategies and Students’ Willingness to Communicate: Teachers’ and Learners’ Perceptions
This study explored both teachers’ and learners’ perceptions of teachers’ pedagogic strategies which may engender willingness to communicate (WTC) in an English as a foreign language class and the difference between their perceptions to detect how convergent or possibly how divergent these are. The project used a convenience sample of 300 students taking an intermediate English course and their...
متن کاملAn Investigation of Curriculum Genre Using Rose (2014) Pedagogic Exchange Model
Classroom learning consists of a variety of pedagogic relations including teachers and learners’ interactions, inclusions and exclusions of learners and evaluations. The purpose of this paper was to comprehensively examine the nature of these interactions using Rose (2014) pedagogic exchange model. The researchers qualitatively investigated the interactions of an experienced male EFL teacher wi...

متن کاملکمک به دانش آموزان دارای ناتوانی در ریاضی برای موفق شدن
Teachers and parents are often perplexed when an intelligent student performs poorly in mathematics. Research tells us that this is often due to math disability, otherwise known as dyscalculia. The authors define dyscalculia and describe its major subtypes. Also, the authors describe characteristics of dyscalculia and explain why dyscalculia is difficult to assess and identify. In addition, th...
